Hand sculpted Chameleon, crouching Sphinx-like, a top a textured, truncated pyramid shaped butter dish lid. The two front feet are draped against the pyramid and resting beneath the head, while the distinctive tail curls into a perfect circle on the side of the lid. Two colorful round acrylic eyes, each with a black pupil, one looking backwards over its right shoulder the other looking forward. The butter dish tray is a smooth rectangular shape with subtle details, and raised areas, so that the lid sits perfectly on top of it. Four clear rubber bumpers are attached to the bottom of the tray. Earthenware Clay, Food Safe glaze. The Chameleons are glazed, using crystalline glazes, no two are alike. The cover and tray are available in Satin White, Satin Black, & Satin Red. Also available in solid Satin White, and Satin Bronze. Each dish is signed by the artist, on bottom of tray.
I have been collecting Doug Anderson’s pieces for years. They are proudly displayed throughout my house, and now I have a Chameleon Butter Dish on my kitchen counter. It makes me smile and brighten my day!
